Lucy Chapin is a Vermont-based singer-songwriter known for her warm stage presence, memorable lyrics, and crystalline voice. Spanning genres, she blends folk, blues, and country.
Since the age of 13, Lucy has traveled the country playing music--from busking in the streets of New Orleans to securing slots in the jamband festival circuit to playing coveted venues such as The Brooklyn Bowl and The Station Inn in Nashville.
Lucy does play occasional solo shows, but prefers sharing the stage with others. Musical collaborator and lauded multi-instrumentalist, Jason Crosby (Robert Randolph, Susan Tedeschi, Phil Lesh), produced her third and most recent album, “Line of Sight”. She now plays regularly with brilliant Vermont-based musicians Brett Hughes and Lowell Thompson.
Lucy has opened sold-out shows for folk/country icons Mary Chapin Carpenter and Shawn Colvin; G. Love and Special Sauce; Regina Spektor in her 2002 “Four Lives in Folk” concert; and kicked off the fabled “Gathering of the Vibes” festival with Phil Lesh and Friends as headliners. In 2007, Lucy held the distinct honor of playing at acclaimed writer David Halberstam’s funeral in Harlem alongside Paul Simon and Peter Yarrow.
Lucy is returning to music after a 10-year hiatus, during which she devoted herself to practicing as a midwife and raising her two children. These life experiences have provided her with rich fodder for new songs. She returns to the stage with refreshed curiosity, passion, and gratitude for the ease of slipping back into such familiar joy.
